Allgemine is a family-owned business run by father and son, Bryan and Allan Braunberger. With more than 25 years as wholesale gemstone suppliers and over 70 years of combined industry experience, we have dedicated our lives to gemstones, mining, and fine gem cutting.

Bryan, our head of sales, has been involved in the gemstone industry since the 1970s. Allan began his journey in the trade at just 17 years old and quickly developed a passion for gem cutting. Over the following years, he spent more than six months living in Idar-Oberstein, Germany—one of the world's most renowned gem-cutting centres—learning traditional cutting techniques. He then spent five years training under a master German gem cutter in Brisbane while cutting gemstones for the trade and travelling the world sourcing rough and cut material.

Over the years, we have bought and sold a wide range of gemstones, including tanzanite, aquamarine, tourmaline, tsavorite, and many others. Our experience has taken us across the globe, building lasting relationships throughout the gemstone industry and developing a deep understanding of quality, value, and craftsmanship.

Today, our focus is firmly on Australian sapphires.

After acquiring a sapphire mine in the Queensland Gemfields, we made the decision to specialise in these remarkable Australian gemstones. We relocated from Brisbane to Emerald, Queensland, to be closer to the source and now operate our sapphire mine on Bedford Hill in Rubyvale.

What makes our sapphires truly unique is their traceability. We mine, cut, and prepare many of our gemstones ourselves, allowing us to follow a stone's journey from the earth on our claim through every stage of the faceting process to the finished gem. This direct involvement gives us complete confidence in the quality, authenticity, and story behind every sapphire we offer.

While we continue to cut traditional gemstone shapes and designs, Allan's true passion lies in creating inclusion-centric gemstones. Rather than viewing inclusions as imperfections, he sees them as nature's fingerprints—unique features that tell the story of a stone's formation deep within the earth over millions of years.

These one-of-a-kind gems are approached differently. Instead of cutting to a standard formula, Allan studies each stone individually and designs a cut that celebrates its natural character, colours, patterns, and inclusions. The result is something closer to a piece of art than a traditional gemstone—a collaboration between nature and craftsman. The earth creates the masterpiece; Allan reveals it.

No two stones are ever the same. Each inclusion-centric gem is completely unique, showcasing beauty that cannot be replicated or mass-produced. They are a celebration of the perfectly imperfect—individual works of natural art that honour the remarkable journey from the earth to the finished gemstone.

At Allgemine, Australian Sapphire Specialists, we are proud to share both the timeless beauty of traditionally cut Australian sapphires and the extraordinary character of our inclusion-centric creations, along with rare collector gemstones, with jewellers, collectors, and gemstone enthusiasts around the world.
